Why can't motivation be sold in a bottle?

I've had all day to start studying for my Metrics final, and I've made no progress. I know most people would call me lazy, but I really just don't believe in expending energy on things that I don't care about and don't believe in. I have no use for Econometrics - I'm not planning on going to grad school for Economics, I don't plan on being a professor - I'm not even going to work in an industry related to finance or requiring more than basic statistical skills. Supposedly Metrics is a relatively new addition to the Economics repertoire...ack. Why couldn't I have been a student here earlier? Or better...why couldn't the heads of this department realize how utterly useless and strenuous this class can be for many Econ majors and drop it from the list of requirements? Ah, I can't wait to get this stupid class off my back.
